Declining role in AI-augmented design workflows

YC's Head of Design describes a notable shift away from Figma as a primary tool, noting that they now work "almost exclusively nowadays in conductor and paper design" and that this is "all I need usually to make a full project end to end." That said, Figma has not been entirely abandoned: the same speaker acknowledges having "initially started in Figma actually" during their design process, suggesting it may still serve an entry point or exploratory role even for practitioners who have largely moved on from it. (source)
